From 5 to 7 May 2025, Resolvo participated in the third interregional meeting of the FutureECOS project, held in Cork, Ireland. The event brought together project partners and invited stakeholders to share progress from the three project sub-groups – sustainable, smart, and inclusive living spaces – while also exchanging challenges and use cases linked to the project’s concept and diverse territorial contexts.

A meeting structured around the core pillars of FutureECOS.

The agenda was organised around three thematic sessions, each representing a key pillar of the project.

  1. Smart & Sustainable Southern Region

This session focused on national and regional Smart Strategies, complemented by a showcase of Good Practices (GPs) from participating regions.

Highlighted Good Practices:

  • Cork Smart Gateway: an initiative to foster a smart and innovative agenda for Cork by engaging a wide range of stakeholders through events and webinars.
  • Cork Docklands Regeneration: Ireland’s largest regeneration project, aimed at expanding Cork City through walkable, connected neighbourhoods that integrate the river, the city centre, and surrounding communities.
  1. New European Bauhaus

The second session delved into the New European Bauhaus – a central theme of FutureECOS – through discussions and relevant Good Practices that exemplify this EU initiative’s core values of sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusion.

Highlighted Good Practices:

  • THRIVE – Town Centre First Heritage Revival Scheme: supports the development of integrated urban strategies and capital projects for restoring vacant or derelict heritage buildings in targeted settlements.
  • Clonakilty Urban Renewal: a human-centric approach to re-inhabiting public space, combining a strong sense of place and civic stewardship in this traditional Irish town.
  1. Citizen Engagement

This session presented approaches and methods for effective citizen and stakeholder engagement.

Highlighted Good Practice:

  • Cork Climate Action Initiatives: Cork City is working toward becoming a climate-neutral and resilient city by 2030, focusing on fairness, health, economic vibrancy, and sustainability.

Additional programme highlights

The meeting also featured:

  • A walking tour of Cork, showcasing smart city projects and New European Bauhaus-inspired developments.
  • Presentations from each sub-group on sustainable, smart, and inclusive living.
